All Vlge Plans include the basic Website Builder. The below instructions detail how to build basic web pages (landing pages) for your community. With Vlge, the vast majority of content for your community will be contained in the platform itself - from ACC Requests to handling violations, or looking up CC&Rs. The Website Builder can be found in the Admin Area ➡ Admin Tools
Note: Exact order of feature tiles may change as new features are released
Your pages will appear as tiles in the main Website Builder area - click them to edit.
NOTE: Images & Settings
Along the top you can find access to your image gallery where you can upload new image assets for use in the website.
Settings contains colors, Typography, Domain settings, and Footer information. See more below.
Editing a page will allow you to adjust sections, include Hero images, action buttons, text and other content
About Image Overlay:
When you add text to the page and that text sots on top of the uploaded image, sometimes it makes sense to darken the image a bit to make the text more visible. Sliding the Overlay setting allows for this effect.
Adding Sections
When you click Add a Section at the bottom, you see options for the type of section you wish to include.
👉 Page Settings/Nav Settings
Click on the gear icon when editing any page to view or edit the page's key settings.
Page Name: This is the name as it will appear in the browser tab
Nav Title: This is the name that will appear in the site navigation. You can set this the same or shorten it depending on the page.
URL Slug: This is set automatically, but you can change it as you like - this affects the page's URL. Note that changing after you already have traffic to the page may affect bookmarks that visitors have saved. If you have advanced access to your domain, you can use 301 redirects to avoid bookmark issues, but for most users its best to leave the URL as it is.
SEO Settings: This is how your page will appear in search
Navigation Check mark: Uncheck if you don't want the page to appear in the site's main navigation (footer links like Privacy Policy etc).
👉 Previewing Your Page
To look at the final presentation of the page you built, click "Preview" at the top.
About Domains
By default, your website will appear on a "subdomain" similar to the following:
[yourname].vlge.io/site/home
The "name" is the subdomain that you originally chose when setting up your community.
The "slug" or "home" in this example is your webpage name. By default, we assign "home" to the main landing page for your site - but you can change this in the settings of Website Builder. Other pages will have other "slugs" which you specify when building a page.
Advanced Domain Pointing
You have the option of pointing your own domain name at the website so that when entered by a user, your site appears. For example, "Hill Country Hills HOA" wants to use www.hillcountryhills.com and make their website available at that domain.
