In a user's My Property page, where Residents/Owners are shown, whenever there are multiple, one will have a gold star indicating that they are the Primary resident.
In the All Properties page, when you select a detail page of a property, you will see the same setting under Owner/Occupant Info (again only when multiple exist)
👉 What it does
That person is the unit’s default official contact for:
Invoices / dues - who gets billed and emailed for assessments
Certified mail / legal notices - who is the certified-mail recipient (shown as “Primary Owner For Certified Mail” in Communication Settings)
My Portfolio / household billing - only properties where you are primary contact can consolidate into one household invoice; units where someone else is primary stay separate
Display / reports - preferred name on violations lists, who-owes-you, attorney reports, etc.
👉 Who can be it
Only a current owner (or owner-occupant). Pure renters/occupants can’t be starred; the API rejects that because primary contact is the financially responsible party.
👉 What it does not do
It doesn’t grant admin rights, board access, or change who’s on title. Voting uses a different flag when that applies. Entity-owned units use entity primary-contact / legal-notice recipients instead of this person star.
