Frequent Questions
Q: Why do I have to pay the payment processing fee? Shouldn't the HOA/POA pay it?
A: All payment processing through platforms like Vlge incurs a fee of some type. Whether credit card fees, ACH fees, or even live check processing (if your organization uses a service to receive and deposit checks). How these fees are handles (absorbed or passed along) is dependent upon your association.
Q: Why does the platform get access to balances when I connect a bank?
A: This is specific to automatic connections through Plaid which verifies your ownership of the account (avoids typos as well as fraud). This connection also checks the balance for sufficient funds before running the ACH payment to prevent the insufficient funds or Return Fee ($40). If you manually verify your account with micro-deposits through manual account entry, you are not connecting the account in the same way which avoids the balance sharing for ACH purposes but adds risk of the Return Fee.
